A Few Lawn Care Tips For The Spring

Properly caring for your lawn is certainly an all year task and you do need to pay attention to keeping your yard as healthy as possible during the changing seasons. This is especially true during the spring months. Here are some basic lawn care tips for spring.

After the winter your lawn may well appear to be either lush and green, or completely barren and dry. Thankfully, spring is the right time of year for you to re-seed your lawn and put down sod on the dry patches.

It’s certainly very important to you to make sure that once you have put down any new seeds or sod that you ensure you provide plenty of water to your lawn throughout the week. Of course, if there is plenty of rain around then this won’t be too much of a problem, but if not you will need to make sure that you out there providing all the water that it needs.

It’s not necessarily going to be a very good idea for you to fertilise your lawn during the spring time. The reason for this is because the nitrogen present within the fertiliser is likely to make the blades of grass grow more quickly than the roots. As such the roots aren’t going to take hold properly and this can lead to problems when summer turns up and the roots aren’t able to conserve sufficient amounts of water.

Possibly the most difficult part of caring for your lawn properly at any time of year is in combating the growth of weeds. In order to help with this fight it is always a good idea to get yourself a low grade weedkiller that will help fight off the weed without actually causing any damage to your lawn, especially if you are trying to regrow it.

Apply these simple tips properly and your lawn should be absolutely fine.
