What Are Above Ground Pool Liners?

Above ground pool liners, what are they? Do you have a new above ground pool, but do not know what a liner is or what it does? Why do you need a liner for your pool and where do you get them? Pool liners go over the top of your pool and help keep the water in the pool, stop debris such as leaves, falling in the pool, and maintain a comfortable swimming temperature of the water. Liners are not irreplaceable though, and at some stage you will need to purchase another liner.

Do you need a liner that is beaded or a liner that overlaps the pool? The difference in these liners is the way in which they attach to your pool. The beaded liner will attach to the pool by a groove that goes along the edge of the liner, and then this groove will click into a track that is located inside the pool edge.

If you choose an overlap liner, it is attached to the pool by removing the top rail of the pool and attaching the liner with plastic clips, then replacing the top rail.

After you decide on which liner you are going to purchase, check your pools manufacture book to find the measurements to work out what shape and size liner you will need. Buy the best quality and thickest liner that you can. If you buy a cheap thin liner you will constantly be replacing the liner, costing you more money in the end.

Keep in mind that thin liners do not last anywhere near as long as liners made from thicker vinyl. The thickness of the vinyl you purchase should be stated on the vinyl at the store where you are purchasing it.

So you know what type of liner you require, now, what style of liner do you want? You can always just take the standard boring blue liner, or you can go crazy with wild colors, pictures of fish, and bright swirls of a tile effect. Make your pool liner stand out, be the envy of other pool owners that you know!

The final steps when choosing your pool liner is if you are going to install the liner yourself or have a professional install the liner for you. If you have not installed one before you may want to hire a professional to show you the correct way to do it so as to not ruin your new liner.
