The Importance Of A Lawn Mower

It’s always a very satisfying feeling when you stare upon a well-maintained lawn. A lot of people however tend to feel that keeping a lawn well maintained is a very hard task. This is of course far from the truth. Keeping your lawn beautiful and well maintained isn’t difficult at all.

If you are like one of the person above, then you should very well know the importance of the lawn mower. A lawn without a lawn mower would just be like a painter without a brush.

It all started with a man called Edwin Budding back in 1827. The great man apparently noticed that everyone was either using a scythe or livestock to maintain their own lawns and the method doesn’t seem very efficient to him so he tried to invent a device that would make the task much more easier. Hence the lawn mower was created.

Reel mowers was one of the first lawn mowers to be introduced. This early version of the lawn mower was simple and were pushed across the lawn while its blades inside slices up the grass. Reel mowers were just the beginning as more lawn mowers were soon invented to keep up with the modern era.

The reason why lawn mowers so easily replaced the livestock back then would be its consistency of grass cutting. Lawn mowers were designed to obey the one-third rule of grass cutting therefore your grass will never have the problem of being too short. Unlike the lawn mower, livestock needs to be controlled from time to time to avoid them from over-grazing your lawn. Any mistake and your lawn will end up with a bald patch.

Besides that, if you are willing to fork out more money there is the robotic lawn mower. The robotic lawn mower works just like any other lawn mower except for the difference that it does not require a person to handle it. The robot can easily maneuver itself across the lawn and mow it without you being near the lawn.

A robotic lawn mower is able to mow up to 2 acres of lawn depending on how large its border wire is. The border wire is located around the lawn to let the robot detect where to mow as well as to make sure it doesn’t steer out of control. Most robotic lawn mowers are also self-rechargeable and can easily direct itself to a charging-bay where it will charge until the next time you use it.

Every year over 80,000 people are injured from lawn mower accidents in the US. Hence it is always important to wear the proper gear whenever you operate a lawn mower. Always wear goggles and boots to protect yourself because lawn mowers can toss out debris at hazardous speeds. The same applies for the robotic lawn mower. Always make sure there are no kids around the lawn when the robot is mowing to avoid any accidents.
